GREAT BENDINGS OF A ROUND PLATE OF VARYING THICKNESS,

Abstract

The article deals with the bendings, moments, and forces in a round plate of varying thickness where the bendings are commensurate with the thickness of the plate but remain little in comparison. The author proceeds to derive certain nonlinear equations which can be only solved by successive approximations. These equations are so difficult that they could hardly be solved except by an electronic computer. The deformations and forces are indicated by letters and the formulas and equations by numbers. For the solution there was derived a program which enabled one to accomplish the computations, both with the taking into account and not taking into account of the nonlinearity. (Author)
