EXPERIMENTAL STUDY OF AN OSCILLATORY PROCESS IN CYLINDRICAL SHELLS EXCITED BY INSTANTANEOUS LIBERATION OF ENERGY,

Abstract

The present work studies the dynamic deformations of the walls of thin-walled cylindrical welded shells under a pulse of instantaneously evolved energy. The frequencies and amplitudes of the axisymmetric oscillations of the shell wall under the effect of a single pulse with instantaneous evolution of energy inside shells filled with water were measured by a synchronizing device permitting the rigid establishment in time of three moments. The method described for making sufficiently stable and precise measurements made it possible to conduct a series of experiments on the dynamic deformations of the walls of the cylindrical shells filled with liquid under an instantaneous internal load.
