Abstract
The book deals with wind conditions in the USSR. After some discussion of wind in relation to topography in Siberia and the Arctic, an explanation to tables of the book is given with reference made to each table. The table headings are as follows: (1) Recurrence of wind direction and calms (%); (2) Recurrence of wind direction and calms at different hours of the day; (3) Mean monthly and annual wind speed (m/s); (4) Mean monthly and annual wind speed at different hours of the day (m/s); (5) Probability of wind speed by gradations (in % of the total number of cases); (6) Probability of wind speed by gradations at different hours of the day (%); (7) Probability of wind by gradation of speeds and with respect to directions at different hours of the day (%); (8) Probability of wind of different speed with respect to directions; (9) Mean numbers of days with high wind; (10) Greatest wind speeds (m/s) of different probability; (11) Diurnal variation of wind speed (m/s); (12) Diurnal variation of wind direction and calms (%).
