SOME NORMALIZING TRANSFORMATIONS OF THE MULTIPLE CORRELATION COEFFICIENT.

Abstract

Three normal approximations to the sampling distribution of the multiple correlation coefficient are proposed and investigated. The approximations are not as accurate as Gurland's new approximation based on the F distribution but do have the advantage of being based on the more convenient and more thoroughly tabulated normal distribution.
