ASTRONOMIC-GEODETIC NET OF THE USSR (Astronomo-Geodezicheskaya Set SSSR),

Abstract

The state geodetic net of the USSR in its present form is a complicated structure. In terms of position it is sub-divided into four classes. The first order triangulations as an astronomic-geodetic net is intended for scientific investigations connected with determination of the earth's form and dimensions and for distribution of a single system of coordinates over the entire area of the USSR. The first and second order nets serve as a basis for the development of the subsequent order nets. The third and fourth order nets are the nets of condensation. The first order triangulation is constructed in the form of polygons; the nets of the subsequent orders are continuous; the triangles cover a given area entirely. This work is a concise review of astronomic-geodetic nets in the USSR.
