DETERMINATION OF Na, Mn, Cu, Ga, Ge, AND Au IN IRON METEORITES.

Abstract

A method is described which allows the determination of germanium in iron meteorites or other alloys using neutron activation analysis. Distillation is employed to separate radioactive germanium from the considerable residual activity and further purification can be effected by means of an extraction step. Also Na, Mn, Cu, Ga, and Au are determined by activation analysis as described by Schaudy et al. The results of the determinations are discussed. (Author)
