RESEARCH ON NON EQUILIBRIUM STATISTICAL PHYSICS.

Abstract

Progress in non equilibrium statistical mechanics and thermodynamics achieved in the last two years is summarized. The main emphasis is put on the development of our quasi-particle theory which has now been extended to arbitrary order in the coupling constant. This quasi-particle theory leads to the replacement of the usual Hamiltonian description involving potential energy of interaction by a collection of colliding excitations. Progress in macroscopic stability theory obtained through a generalization of non equilibrium thermodynamics is also described.
