3200 ANGSTROM PHOSPHOR.

Abstract

Near optimum doping and firing procedure were determined for the lead-doped beta-CaSiO3, with the best sample showing an efficiency nearly twice that of previously prepared samples. Work on the lead-doped alpha-CaSiO3 and beta-Ca2SiO4 was discontinued, because of unsatisfactory progress, in favor of work on the more promising lead- and thallium-doped BaSi2O5. A lead-doped BaSi2O5 was synthesized which shows an efficiency approximately equal to that of the best lead- doped CaSiO3 produced. Thallium-doped BaSi2O5 synthesis was begun. Investigation of titanium dioxide-doped Zn2SiO4 was undertaken for the purpose of producing a 3800 A emitting phosphor to replace P-16. (Author)
