DIGITAL SPECTRUM ANALYSIS,

Abstract

Digital spectrum analysis is the utilization of discrete state systems, particularly general purpose digital computers, for the estimation of the power spectrum of a random process. This report is concerned with techniques for providing high quality, computationally efficient estimates of the power spectrum. It represents a summary of the literature on the subject and an investigation into the interrelationship of the factors which affect quality and efficiency. Tutorial in nature, it treats the subject from the point of view of the practicing engineer who is faced with the task of performing spectral analyses and chooses to use a computer for the purpose.
