STATISTICAL ANALYSIS OF NFSS PROTECTION CATEGORIES

Abstract

The National Fallout Shelter Survey (NFSS) was designed to identify fallout shelter space in all buildings other than single family dwellings. Before February 1967, Phase 1 of the NFSS used a computer program at the National Bureau of Standards (NBS) to obtain a 'first estimate' of the protection factors in the buildings, and Phase 2 was a follow-up to more completely identify and locate the probable shelter areas in the buildings.
