MONOMAN CALORIMETER PROJECT.

Abstract

Sedentary metabolic values of men, women, and children are determined from data taken in a direct calorimetry system. This data is for very low air flow rates and high temperatures and humidities. The metabolism is divided into sensible and latent components and is pictorialized as a non-isostate process on the psychrometric chart. Heat and mass transfer coefficients are determined and used to predict the upper limit of hot environment that is possible without thermal strain. Occupant subjective reactions to the environment are also considered. (Author)
