ANALYSIS OF MULTIPLE DISCONTINUITIES IN SHELLS OF REVOLUTION INCLUDING COUPLED EFFECTS OF MERIDIONAL LOAD. 7090 PROGRAM NO. 3019,

Abstract

A method is presented for the analysis of stresses and deflections in the regions of multiple discontinuities in thin-walled shells of revolution which may incorporate full circumferential rings at any location. The method accounts for carry-over effects between neighboring discontinuities and for the coupled effects of meridional load. Joints between three separate shell contours at any particular point can be accommodated. A program has been prepared to provide rapid solutions on a data processing machine. The input, output, capabilities and limitations of this program, as well as the theoretical background, are discussed. (Author)
