COMPRESSIBLE NARROW GROOVE THEORY-AN APPROXIMATE ANALYSIS OF GAS LUBRICATED SPIRAL-GROOVED BEARINGS AT LARGE COMPRESSIBILITY NUMBERS.

Abstract

A generalized analysis of gas-lubricated bearings inscribed with shallow, narrow, spiraled grooves was established. The analysis is applicable to any surface of revolution and may include the effects of radial eccentricity. The analysis is based on an asymptotic expansion of the width-to-length ratio of the grooves. (Author)
