MECHANISM AND DYNAMICS OF COAXIAL PLASMA ACCELERATION.

Abstract

It is shown by 5-nanosecond image converter photography and neutron scintillators that the neutrons coming from the 'plasma focus' at the end of a plasma coaxial accelerator are produced by the mutual annihilation of ortho plasma vortices and not by the m = o, MHD instabilities or by the symmetrical compressions which were previously credited with leading roles in neutron production in all z pinches.
