NEUTRAL PARTICLE FLUX MEASUREMENTS IN A PLASMA WIND TUNNEL.

Abstract

The neutral particle flux in a plasma wind tunnel has been measured using a BeCu detector in a system similar to that described by Fleischmann and Tuckfield. The neutral particle density in the collision free flow was found to be less than one percent of the ion density making it very unlikely that neutrals play an important role in the dissipation processes in the collision-free flow.
