NUMERICAL STUDIES OF THE NON-LINEAR BOLTZMANN EQUATION. PART II. STUDIES OF NEW TECHNIQUES OF ERROR REDUCTION,

Abstract

Since 1963 a number of techniques have been developed for improving the accuracy and stability of Nordsieck's Monte Carlo method of evaluating the Boltzmann collision integral. The report summarizes all of the techniques, including the older ones that have already been described in our reports and papers and the newer ones which we have been using during the past year but which have not previously been discussed in detail. Some of the techniques are numerical corrections of the Monte Carlo method and some are new and more effective implementations of it.
