COST-EFFECTIVENESS ANALYSIS OF THE AUTOMATION OF AIR TRAFFIC CONTROL FUNCTIONS AT RADAR TERMINALS. COST-BENEFITS OF TRACON C.

Abstract

The report analyzes the effects of automating a selected number of radar terminals with alphanumeric beacon-tracking capability. These terminals consist of 6 'Giant' size terminals, 24 'Large' size terminals and 32 'Medium' size terminals. Although they fall within the defined 'Giant' size category, Atlanta is excluded because it already has the ARTS automation, and the New York complex (JFK, LGA and EWR) is excluded because automation is currently programmed via the common IFR room.
