THE INTEGRATED GRAPHICS SYSTEM FOR THE S-C 4060: II. SYSTEM PROGRAMMER'S GUIDE,

Abstract

A guide for programmers seeking to (1) modify or extend IGS as implemented for S-C 4060, (2) convert IGS for other machines, or (3) design their own character fonts for use with IGS. Directions are given for converting a designed character into its vector-string representation, which the system will convert into data cards that may be stored in a program library or loaded with an individual IGS job. The vector-string characters are unrestricted as to size, shape, or orientation. IGS performs for these vector characters all the functions the 4060 performs for its CHARACTRON set--display, character spacing, line spacing, tabbing, margination, automatic adjustment to accommodate changes, etc. Special debugging routines are provided to test whether a font looks and performs as intended. The memorandum includes a listing of the mode sets; the METAZZ call and metalanguage string used to achieve each of the IGS capabilities; a cross-reference list of the subroutines that call each other; core storage requirements; and directions for use with PL/I programs, as well as a description of each individual system subroutine. The graphics subroutines are described in AD-682 505, which also describes the S-C 4060 and the relationship between IGS and the S-C 4060. (Author)
