OUTPUT SIGNAL-TO-NOISE RATIO IMPROVEMENT IN ANGLE MODULATION SYSTEMS THROUGH PRE-EMPHASIS AND DE-EMPHASIS,

Abstract

A general expression is developed for the output signal-to-noise ratio improvement realizable in an angle modulation system as a function of the signal information spectral distribution and the pre-emphasis and de-emphasis transfer functions. In the analysis, the rms deviation at the pre-emphasis network output is held constant. (Author)
