THE EFFECT OF SIMULATED FISSION PRODUCTS IN THE INTER-ELECTRODE SPACING OF A THERMIONIC DIODE.

Abstract

The development of experimental diode systems is discussed. Description of requirements and problems associated with dual vapor (barium and cesium) at temperatures greater than 750C are presented. The density of ions trapped in the double emitter sheath is calculated analytically; and the results displayed. A numerical calculation of the effect of an array of point dipoles on a surface work function is compared with an analytical result using smeared charge sheet potentials. (Author)
