MEASUREMENTS OF BEACH PROCESS VARIABLES, OUTER BANKS, NORTH CAROLINA.

Abstract

A series of beach-process experiments was conducted on Bodie Island, North Carolina, during 1963-1964 by members of the Coastal Studies Institute staff. Included were essentially continuous and simultaneous measurements of subaerial-beach and inshore-bottom configuration, sediment characteristics, wave and swash properties, still-water levels, and currents. The report summarizes the methods of measurement and presents, in tabular form, the observations taken during the 6-month period. (Author)
