Abstract

The document agrees that it should be the objective of the US and the USSR to promote the coexistence of Israel and the Arab states. Achievement of this goal could contribute to a detente between the US and the Soviet Union, which the leaders of the two powers say they desire. The Middle East, because of its strategic importance, is a convenient area for the two principal powers to direct their policies to this end. (Author)
