GENERALIZED FACTOR ANALYSIS. PART 1. RATIONALE

Abstract

In the report the rationale for a generalized approach to scale free factor analysis is developed. Special cases of a scaling function parameter and a loss function parameter yield the canonical, minres, alpha and principal components models of factor analysis. A new method of oblique transformation to simple structure loadings is developed. Rationales for the computation of factor scores are generalized and a new rationale is presented.
