DISTANCE MEASURING EQUIPMENT FOR TERMINAL AREA.

Abstract

The report covers the results of an investigation of the course of action to be taken by the Federal Aviation Administration to optimize the configuration, performance, and implementation of DME ground transponders for use as terminal area navigational aids, particularly when associated with TVOR and ILS. It includes the determination of the characteristics of a low power, low cost transponder and discusses its behavior in the terminal area and its relationship to other DME's. (Author)
