BILATERAL ELECTROMECHANICAL TRANSDUCERS; A UNIFIED THEORY.

Abstract

The report offers a unified treatment of bilateral electromechanical transducers in terms of simple matrix algebra applied to the general theory of linear two-ports with mechanical and electrical elements. Based on earlier work related to electroacoustic transducers, it derives the general transfer matrix equations applicable to voltage-source and current-source type electromechanical transducers and investigates the specific, and common, properties of electrodynamic, piezoelectric, electrostatic and electromagnetic receivers and senders with particular reference to their frequency response characteristics.
