HYDRODYNAMIC CALCULATION OF SLIDING BEARINGS OPERATING UNDER CONDITIONS OF PARTIAL FILLING OF INTERBEARING SPACE WITH LUBRICANT,

Abstract

A mathematical analysis is presented for the behavior of lubricants in sliding bearings in the case when the lubricant only partially fills the space between a pin and the bearing wall. This analysis is based on a model and on equations of motion. Analytical expressions for the position and extent of free surface of lubricant are derived, the effect of free lubricant surface on pressure, flow rate, and action of hydrodynamic forces on the pin was determined, and the equations for the supporting forces exerted on the pin and the force moment were derived. A numerical solution of a particular example is presented. (Author)
