CIRCUITS FOR CHECKING ARITHMETIC ERRORS BY MEANS OF RESIDUE CODING,

Abstract

The report considers the potentials of residue coding (or congruence checking) to check for errors in arithmetic type operations in a computer. The primary motivation of the study was analysis of cost and complexity of circuitry required to realize error checking by means of residue coding as an alternative to duplication of a computer's arithmetic unit.
