STRESS AND DEFORMATION ANALYSIS OF FLEXIBLE BALLOONS.

Abstract

The report describes the continuation of a research program which involves (1) the determination of the strength of plastic films at -70 degrees F, (2) the determination of the strength of plastic films at temperatures encountered at launch (+75 degrees F to +110 degrees F), (3) an experimental and analytical study of the response of balloons made of highly flexible films, (4) a study of the relevance of tests which relate to the strength of balloons.
