A FIRE STEAM PARAFORMOL CHAMBER OPPK-2,

Abstract

The document covers a fire steam paraformol chamber which allows decontamination of special clothing and articles removed from animals. The heating element consists of a blow torch burning fuel oil, and contains two cuvettes. The steam method may be employed by filling both curvettes with water, for decontamination of articles not decomposing at temperatures above 60 degrees C. By filling one cuvette with formaldehyde and the other with water, the paraformol method may be employed on more delicate materials. Data are presented for disinfection of articles contaminated with vegetative forms of microbes, foot and mouth disease virus, and spore forms of microbes. The chamber can be constructed in a home workshop in either portable or stationary models.
