AFA-TE AERIAL CAMERA WITH OPTICAL FIDUCIAL MARKS,

Abstract

An experimental model of the AFA-TE-70 aerial camera with improved optical coordinate marks has now been developed, fabricated and tested. The design of the optical marks is such that they can be used with standard-produced AFA-TE aerial cameras with focal lengths 70 mm or greater. The marks are made in the form of luminescent crosses whose images are focused by objectives in the aerial camera focal plane. The images of the crosses are situated within enlarged mechanical marks which are retained as a safety measure in case the optical marks should fail. At the corners of the frame there are four additional marks designed for taking aerial film distortion into account. The marks are illuminated from below by electric lamps; they are imprinted on the film by shadow method. On an aerial negative the marks appear as transparent crosses against a dark background.
