THE DIRECT SOLUTION OF DIFFERENCE ANALOGS OF POISSON'S EQUATION.

Abstract

A difference analog for Poisson's equation can be written in matrix form. Various methods to solve this have been proposed, but most are numerically unstable. One method is studied in detail, its stability is proved, and suggestions are given for reducing the computational labor.
