OIL-CONTAMINATED, SOLID-FILM, LUBRICATED SURFACES - NEW CONCEPT.

Abstract

The effect of a semifluid lubricating oil on a solid-film lubricant, when subjected to reciprocating motion under light loads, was determined. Initially, oiled panels showed more wear than unoiled panels; but, at the conclusion of the abrasion tests, the wear on the oiled panels was less than the wear on the unoiled panels. (Author)
