THE MECHANISMS OF FALLOUT PARTICLE FORMATION.

Abstract

The study emphasizes reactions between gaseous fission and activated elements and solid substrate materials. Reported are the high-temperature properties of gaseous fission products and the phenomenon of gaseous fission products colliding with gaseous, liquid, or solid materials. Present studies encompass one phase of the overall program - the study of gaseous fission elements reacting with solid target materials. Work includes (1) sticking phenomena, (2) sticking coefficient measurements, (3) gaseous species, and (4) high-temperature effects on kaolin and silica.
