ATMOSPHERIC TURBULENCE IN AND NEAR CUMULONIMBUS CLOUDS,

Abstract

A summary is made of the modern theories concerning eddies in a Cb zone. Data concerning the structure of the turbulent zones inside and in the vicinity of Cb clouds are given according to the materials of special flight studies, as are the energy spectra of the vertical turbulent gusts of wind inside, below, and above the Cb clouds. The statistical characteristics of the disturbed motion of an aircraft in turbulent zones linked with Cb clouds are investigated. (Author)
