Abstract
Progress is claimed in controlling such diseases as brucellosis, anthrax, chancroid, exanthemous typhus, intestinal infections, syphilis, gonorrhea, trachoma, and such childhood diseases as diphtheria, scarlet fever, and whooping cough. The success is attributed to creation of an extensive public health service, improved diagnosis, extensive vaccination, and prophylactic measures.
