SOLID-STATE PUMPING OF MICROWAVE PARAMETRIC AMPLIFIER.

Abstract

The effects of solid state pumping on parametric amplifier noise figure have been examined both theoretically and experimentally. The results show that careful consideration must be given to the overall amplifier design in order to achieve satisfactory results. Noise figure degradation of from one to several dB has been observed when a klystron and avalanche oscillator were interchanged on a conventionally designed parametric amplifier. (Author)
