AN INVESTIGATION OF THERMODIFFUSION IN GASES WITH THE AID OF INFRARED ABSORPTION SPECTRA,

Abstract

Thermodiffusion in binary mixtures of vapor-gas was studied with respect to the integral intensity of absorption bands of elastic vibrations of the NH groups of phthalimide and diphenylamine vapors as it depends on helium and nitrogen concentrations. Depending on the value of the temperature gradient in the phthalimide and nitrogen mixture, attentuation or intensification of absorption is observed, involving a change in the thermodiffusion sign. With no temperature gradient, no foreigh gas influence on vibration absorption bands of polyatomic molecules was detected. (Author)
