ON NONLINEAR OSCILLATIONS OF FRICTION SYSTEMS WITH A ONE-WAY LINK,

Abstract

A problem is given of oscillations of a system with dry friction and a one-way elastic link, for which the dependence between a force P and a displacement finite derivative is given by the formula P equals 1/2 (1 plus sgn finite derivative) B finite derivative, where B is a constant. The random character of dry friction is noted in practical systems. It is suggested that a random multiplier Phi (x) be introduced in the expression for the dependence of the friction force upon velocity, in order to account for the random character of dry friction; certain hypothetical qualitative considerations on the character of this multiplier distribution are expressed.
