A TABLE FOR CONVERTING pH TO HYDROGEN ION CONCENTRATION (H+) OVER THE RANGE 5-9,

Abstract

The wider use, in the future, of hydrogen ion concentration (H+) rather than pH to describe and evaluate acid-base status will require interconversion of the two notations until a final standard is adopted. The relationship between pH and (H+) is given by the general expression pH = - log (H+). Tables relating pH and (H+) have been constructed according to the above expression and will eliminate the need for mathematical computation over a range covering most biological applications.
