CORRELATION OF BLOOD CHOLINESTERASE VALUES OBTAINED WITH THREE AUTOMATED SYSTEMS.
Abstract
The degree of correlation among three automated methods of measuring blood cholinesterase activity was determined. The 3-channel system is used for in vivo monitoring of enzyme activity of whole blood, plasma, and red blood cells independently and concurrently. The 'standard' and the 'modified' systems measure enzyme activity in discrete samples of each blood component. It was concluded that: (1) The descending order of correlation between the three systems is: standard system versus modified system, 3-channel monitor versus standard system, and 3-channel monitor versus modified system. All correlations are good. (2) The sensitivity of the standard system decreases rapidly below a value of 0.80 micromole/ml/min. (3) A table of factors has been prepared that can be used to convert the values of one system to those of another. (Author)
