PLEASANTNESS OF POTENTIAL SOCIAL SITUATIONS AND BALANCE.

Abstract

The importance of other individuals in the process of social change is obvious. The attraction to other individuals when these individuals are innovators or change agents is particularly important. The report examines a type of situation in which an individual may be attracted to a potential social relationship with another person. The framework is that of balance theory. A simple mathematical formulation of the situation is developed which apparently fits the obtained data quite well. Some implications for social change are examined on the basis of the findings.
