THE KINETICS OF OXIDATION OF ISOPROPYL BENZENE BY MOLECULAR OXYGEN,

Abstract

In order to develop the methods of removing detergent impurities and original substances from the waters and tailings of chemical enterprises it is necessary to have the information about the kinetics and about the elementary mechanism of their oxidation under natural conditions--in a neutral medium with molecular oxygen taking part at a comparatively low temperature and in the absence of catalytic agents. This report describes briefly the results of the first stage of such an investigation which carried out the oxidation of the simplest representative of the alkyl-aromatic hydrocarbons--isopropyl benzene (cumene).
