CALCULATION OF TRANSVERSE VELOCITIES IN THE INITIAL AND MAIN SECTIONS OF TURBULENT JETS IN A WAKE FLOW,

Abstract

Formulas are derived and used for calculating transverse velocity profiles in the main and initial sections of a plane or axisymmetric jet in a wake flow. The formulas are based on the use of boundary-layer equations and of a continuity equation combined with a constant momentum condition. Approximate solutions are obtained with these formulas and the results of calculations are compared. A comparison of approximate and exact solutions is given for the main section of a plane and axisymmetric submerged jet. (Author)
