CHARACTERISTICS OF THE SPREAD OF HEMORRHAGIC FEVER WITH A RENAL SYNDROME IN UFA AND EPIDEMIOLOGICAL EFFICACY OF RAT EXTERMINATION

Abstract

There is an active focus of hemorrhagic fever with a renal syndrome in UFA, which is characterized by great variety in the conditions of infection of the population. Over a ten year period 1500 persons were stricken with this disease, while 65% of them were infected in the town. In 1965 and 1966 rat extermination was carried out in the forests of the town territory. As a result the incidents of infection dropped 22 times in comparison with control, on treated areas. The epidemiological structure of the diseases and its seasonal variation also changed markedly.
