HISTORY OF THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE CHAIRS OF EPIDEMIOLOGY IN THE USSR,

Abstract

Instruction in epidemiology was first established as a separate discipline with the creation of a department of epidemiology at the Odessa Medical Institute in 1920. The discipline grew rapidly, and after World War II, programs in military epidemiology were added in many departments. Many important texts have been published based on research carried out at various epidemiology departments, and at the present time, such departments have been organized in all sanitary-hygienic faculties of medical institutes in the USSR.
