AN INVESTIGATION OF BIVARIATE NORMAL LOGNORMAL DISTRIBUTIONS.

Abstract

Both the normal and lognormal distributions are used to describe a great variety of phenomena. This paper is concerned with the bivariate distribution of (X, Y) that arises when one variate, say X, is distributed normally, the conditional distribution of the other, for a given X is lognormal, and the form of the regression E(Y/X = x) is known. Two forms of the regression curve are investigated; it is hoped that this method of approach will prove useful for other regression functions. (Author)
