TEMPERATURES AND THERMAL STRESSES IN THIN-WALLED SPHERICAL SEGMENTS.

Abstract

The thermal stresses induced in thin-walled spherical shell seqments, subject to a uniform aerodynamic heat input are presented. The problem is divided into two main sections: determination of the transient and steady-state temperature distribution in the spherical shell segment, and calculation of the resulting thermal stresses.
