TRAINING FEEDBACK ON THE AN/SPS-40 RADAR SYSTEM.

Abstract

A job analysis was made of the maintenance requirements of a selected radar system. A structured interview, based upon the job analysis, was then used to obtain information from a fleet sample of ETs concerning their experiences in maintaining that radar system. The maintenance tasks especially concerned were those involving power conversion, alignment, and the tasks involving maintenance of the moving target indicator. Difficulties were noted in understanding and using the system's technical manuals and test equipments. As an aid to school personnel responsible for training, specific maintenance difficulties are described and identified by system component and by location in the present school curriculum. (Author)
