FARADAY ROTATION SYSTEM FOR MEASURING ELECTRON DENSITIES,

Abstract

The Faraday rotation radio propagation experiment for measuring electron densities in the 60-90 km region of the ionosphere is described in this report. After a brief introduction of the Faraday rotation theory, its applicability at 32 degrees N latitude (WSMR) is explained. The experimental procedure that is followed, the ground transmitting equipment, rocket payload and receiving instrumentation are also described. (Author)
