MULTICOMPONENT CELLULOLYTIC ENZYMES OF THERMOTOLERANT AND MESOPHYLIC FUNGI RELATED TO ASPERGILLUS FUMIGATUS,
Abstract
This article is a study of the composition of the celluloytic enzymes of the thermotolerant and mesophylic strain of fungi, related to the Aspergillus fumigatus. As a result of fractionation of the preparations in a Sefadex g-100, four components in the cellulolytic enzymes of the thermotolerant fungus, and three components in the mesophylic fungus were discovered, which demonstrate the enzymatic action in relation to the cotton fiber, Na-carboxymethyl cellulose and cellobiose. Cellulolytic enzymes of the fungi under study consist of C1 and Cx enzymes and of cellulobiase. C1 are the enzymes which split the native cellulose, Cx enzymes hydrolyze the soluble forms of cellulose and cellobiase splits the cellobiase down to glucose. The maximum of activity of the C1 enzyme in both strains of fungi was demonstrated at pH4, and that of Cx enzymes and of cellobiase at pH5. The maximum of activity of the C1, Cx enzymes and cellobiase was evident at the temperature of 60 degrees in the thermotolerant fungi, and at the temperature of 55 degrees in the mesophylic fungi.
